Silhouette Artist Cindi Harwood Rose Ranks First in Wedding Entertainment
AUSTIN, TEXAS: JUNE 30, 2012
Silhouette Artist Cindi Harwood Rose ranks first in wedding entertainment.
Elegant! Amazing! The icing on the cake! Incredible! These are the words used by the guests at a recent wedding in the hill country, where silhouette art master, Cindi Harwood Rose was procured as the evening’s highlight. This country-styled wedding, focused on love of the bride and groom, and opted for the silhouettes, not a band to be the evening’s entertainment. The venue was a hip historic building in scenic Austin, Texas, called The Mercury Hall. The couple put clothes strings on the wall. After Cindi Harwood Rose hand-cut each guest’s profile, she would then string them on the wall for all to admire. She also dropped a duplicate copy into a box, that the bride will later create a silhouette art piece for her own home.
“The silhouettes were a joy to watch”, said Myra Eppright who attended the wedding. The details were astonishing said the mother of the bride, Cindi could cut hair ribbons, spikes, bow-ties, pearls, earrings, and somehow every feature.
Cindi, a natural artist, discovered her amazing gift of drawing as a child, and later developed it into life-drawing. By 8, people were asking her to draw their portraits. Later, as a young teen, Cindi Harwood took her portfolio to a Walt Disney manager, in hopes of becoming an artist for Disney. Her dream came true, and she got the job, but after her tour of the amusement park, she noted that there were over 20 of these portrait artists, and most had watercolors and paint all over their hands and face.
Completing the tour, the manager, took her by the silhouette artist, and to the precocious teen’s amazement he cut a paper profile out on the spot of a park guest. Noting, that there was only one of these artists, and he looked elegant, clean, and sophisticated, C. Harwood said, “I can do that.” Calling her bluff, the manager asked her to do this lost art that seldom in the world had mastered. Quick as you can say “Mickey Mouse around 60 times, Harwood had snipped a great likeness of the manager, to the point that he turned to the prior silhouette artist and fired him on the spot! “This is your job, now,” he told young Cindi, “report to work at 9:30 a.m. and be prepared to stay until midnight.”
Her silhouette artwork has taken her to Paris, Milan, London, Munich, South America, and all over the US, including Hawaii. She has silhouetted royalty, heads of state, stars, and noted musicians. In Hollywood, Cindi Rose, is popular at guesting suites, for many movie stars, sponsored by clothing designers, who know how fashionable silhouette artistry is.
Cindi turned into Cinderella, the art was her magic, and now over 35 years later, with two grown children, and an adoring husband, Cindi Harwood Rose, continues her blessing of doing the most exquisite silhouettes on this planet, for others to cherish for generations.
