To really unlock the power of WordPress you can use short codes to quickly and easily add content to your blog. WordPress comes with built in short codes you can use to insert posts, list posts, videos, galleries, and much more! You can use them in your theme to quickly display your most popular or most recent posts.
With WordPress shortcodes you can take your blogging to a whole new level!
Think of it like a shortcut to keep from having to add a lot of html or code to your posts. You will just add the shortcode immediately before where you want the file or data to be placed and close the shortcode like you would with html;

Images and Documents
- [/gallery]inserts an image gallery into a post or page.
- [rockyou] embeds a slideshow from RockYou.

The new default theme for wordpress Twenty Eleven is a full featured theme with a lot of nice options. The problem; sometimes you do not want comments and forms on every page or your posts.
The Solution is easy. You can disable the comment option on Posts or Pages to hide Leave a Reply in two ways.
You can disable the comments while you are writing your post. Click Screen Options in the very top right corner and select Discussion checkbox. This will show the Discussion panel just after the main textbox. Now deselect both Allow comments & Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page to disable comment and pingbacks on that specific post or page.
If you already have multiple pages and posts in your site, you can edit them all at once, here is how you do it. Go to All Pages or All Posts, then select multiple pages/posts. Now click the dropdrop memu, select Edit and press Apply. Now change Comments and Pings dropdowns to Do Not Allow and press Update button. You just have disabled Comments or Pings on multiple page or post selections at the same time!
