The PCOS Foundation is planning a PCOS weekend this coming September, which is PCOS awareness month.
Saturday, September 28th we will be having our Amerejuve 2013 PCOS Awareness 5K Fun Run and Walk, at the downtown Aquarium. This is our big annual fundraiser that helps us put on programs like our PCOS Symposium.
On Sunday September 29th we will be presenting our Free All Day PCOS Symposium at the Houston Hilton Hotel Post Oak.
I would like to ask you to consider supporting the event through a Sponsorship, in kind donation, Gift Certificate or organizing a team to participate or volunteer at our events.
We are excited about the growth and opportunity we have to help adolescent girls and women learn about PCOS and how to live with it. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to working with you on this important cause.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects an estimated 7 million women in the United States alone. Women suffering from PCOS can experience infertility, obesity, facial and body hair and/or miscarriages to name some of the symptoms. PCOS places women at a 10-fold risk of heart attacks and stroke and a 3-fold risk of endometrial cancer. It also significantly increases the risk of diabetes. All types of women can be diagnosed with this unfortunate medical condition. Less than half of women with PCOS have been diagnosed, making awareness efforts crucial to the fight against this syndrome.
We are hosting our 4th Annual Amerejuve 2013 PCOS Awareness 5K Fun Run and Walk where this year, we have incorporated stairs to symbolize the STEPS in which patients go through for finding a solution to preventing diseases and symptoms associated with PCOS.
